Abstrakt
Patients with stable COPD stage II – IV according to GOLD may benefit from an outcome- orientated physiotherapy in the physiotherapy outpatient. The outcome measures are based on the individual findings/diagnosis and the underlying functional problems of the patient: reduced elasticity and hyperinflation of the lungs, tracheobronchial instability and insufficient diaphragma position, retention of mucus, atrophy, etc. After initial history taking, investigations and diagnosis, it is important to teach relevant techniques in a patient-centred way and if need be instruct regarding the use of supportive devices. The primary aim of the techniques is the support of the lysis, mobilisation, transport and elimination of mucus in pathophysiological conditions, e.g. with the help of ROTA-KOMPEP, oscillating PEP devices, PEEP huffing, PEP coughing. Anti-obstructive behaviour can be learned by the patients, enabling them to recognise provoking situations, avoiding these or reducing their impact through e.g. PEP breathing when climbing stairs, bending down or PEP coughing.
