Abstrakt
In Switzerland 52 outpatient and 10 inpatient programs for pulmonary rehabilitation are available and accredited by the Swiss Society of Pneumology. These programs are funded by the insurance companies except the costs for patient education. With well defined outcome measurements it is shown, that clinically meaningful improvements of the relevant parameters can be achieved with outpatient programs as well as with inpatient programs. Despite these offers and the well known and scientifically proven efficacy pulmonary rehabilitation is still underused.
