Abstrakt

Ergospirometry, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) widens the scope of exercise assessment considerably. CPET enables objective parameters for assessment of cooperation. By determination of O2 consumption a direct indicator for exercise capacity is available, existing exercise limitations are discovered. Such limitations can be assigned to different pathophysiologic entities as ventilatory, cardiocirculatory or metabolic defects. This helps in the clinical task of work- or disability assessment.
