Abstrakt

The evaluation of pulmonary nodules is often complex and in addition to assessing the risk of malignancy also includes histological confirmation and supplementary diagnostic procedures such as pulmonary function testing and, if necessary, PET-CT. Nodule clinics are a key organizational tool for providing guideline-compliant, efficient, and patient-centered evaluation and are crucial for the efficient implementation of a lung cancer screening program.

Close integration of outpatient and inpatient departments, structured interdisciplinary cooperation, and clearly defined communication and decision-making processes ensure precise and timely diagnostic and treatment planning. The involvement of an experienced patient management and regular interdisciplinary case discussions are key elements that ensure a high quality of care.

The structural connection to a certified lung tumor center also provides a seamless transition to further treatment processes and ensures that patients benefit from the latest scientific findings and the entire range of interdisciplinary expertise.
