Abstrakt

The aim of intensive care treatment is to provide each patient with the best possible evidence-based care, in accordance with their individual preferences and values. The complexity of treatment decisions necessitates close collaboration among various professions with differing levels of qualification, professional obligations, and individual value systems. A key prerequisite for effective interprofessional collaboration is high-quality communication and coordination. Interprofessional teamwork incorporating structures of interprofessional shared decision-making can help to prevent conflicts, reduce staff turnover, improve quality of care, and enhance patient safety. Nevertheless, the development of effective interprofessional teams in everyday clinical practice faces numerous challenges. These challenges must be addressed through targeted measures in order to adequately meet the needs of patients in life-threatening situations.
