Abstrakt
In the 1950s and 1960s, a number of clinical developments were introduced into the preclinic. This was the reason why the use of doctors in the rescue service as emergency doctors became increasingly important. The organization of the emergency medical service was carried out in two systems. The prerequisite for participation in the rescue service was a separate qualification. This applied to both emergency physicians and rescue personnel. Air rescue is now also an obligatory part of rescue medicine. In 1970, the first rescue helicopter was put into service. Today, there are 87 helicopter stations spread across Germany.
