Abstrakt

Heat action plans are utilized by many cities and municipalities as a tool to address extreme heat events. For public health officials, it is crucial to understand which of the defined measures contribute to improving the population’s health. A qualitative analysis of nine heat action plans from Germany and other European countries revealed that a particular emphasis is placed on enhancing communication about heat risks. The measures target both the general population and vulnerable groups, particularly senior citizens, who are often reached through multiplicators. Of the nine analyzed heat action plans, only four have been evaluated or are currently undergoing evaluation. Two of these evaluations focus on epidemiological and procedural aspects. In contrast, more recent heat action plans are primarily reporting the progress of their implementation.
