Abstrakt
Patients with chronic, predominantly hereditary diseases, are frequently treated in specialized centers in consultation with pediatricians or general practitioners. This interdisciplinary cooperation is necessary as disease management must be adapted to the respective periods of life and/or the evolving disease burden following diagnosis. Therapists face unique challenges when providing treatment to patients during the pregnancy and breast-feeding stages. The complexity of developing an efficient treatment plan is compounded by the limitations imposed by hormonal alterations and the restricted range of safe treatment options available for use throughout the perinatal period. In mast cell mediator-mediated angioedema (m-AE), the use of 2 nd
generation antihistamines is recommended. Additionally, previous case reports have demonstrated the successful treatment with the biologic omalizumab, which has been already approved for chronic spontaneous urticaria. In hereditary angioedema (HAE), the administration of C1 esterase inhibitor concentrate has been deemed a safe treatment option [1]. Due to the complexity of this disease, however, close cooperation with the attending gynecologist is always advisable, regardless of the treatment plan.
