Abstrakt

The proportion of COPD attributable to an occupational activity is ~ 15%. A number of more than 10 noxious agents are suitable for causing COPD as an occupational disease under German occupational disease law. In addition, the legislator is recommended to create a new occupational disease (in future probably BK 4117): “Chronic obstructive bronchitis (COPD) due to long-term exposure to quartz dust at the workplace”. This article summarizes the scientific justification with direct reference to the official publication of the Ministry of Labour, which is available online with citations.
