Abstrakt

Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma, in most cases characterized by inactivating mutations of the TP53 and RB1 genes. The correct diagnosis is based on the typical morphology and expression of neuroendocrine markers (CD56, synaptophysin, chromogranin, INSM1). Employing additional neuroendocrine differentiation markers (ASCL1, NEUROD1, POU2F3, and YAP1), subgroups with different biology and response to therapy of SCLC can be defined.
