Abstrakt
An asthma DMP (disease management program) for children 6 years and older and for adults has been successfully implemented in Germany since 2006. The program was adapted for infants from the age of 1 year in 2017, after a clinical diagnosis of bronchial asthma had been established nationally and internationally. In a contract for integrated care from 2005, a significant reduction of symptoms in infants was shown through structured care (similar to that in the DMP). After 2017 it took almost 1.5 years until the contractual agreements were adapted. Starting April 2019, infants could be enrolled in the asthma DMP. Evaluations from the KV (Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians) District Nordrhein show a hesitant start of patient enrolment with a relatively good appreciation of outpatient patient training by the patients.
