Abstrakt

There are convincing study results for the early integration of specialist palliative care in the care of patients with advanced and incurable lung cancer. Therefore, the S3 guideline for lung cancer calls for the early integration of specialist palliative care for these patients. This corresponds to the recommendations of international specialist societies such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The implementation of the S3 recommendations is required in the certification requirements of the lung cancer centers (DKG). A key element in the sustainable implementation of patient-centered care models is the best possible, collegial cooperation of general palliative care with the teams of specialist palliative care (e.g., palliative care units, palliative services, and specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV)).
