Abstrakt

For COPD patients who still smoke, stopping smoking is the most important and urgent therapy measure. This is the only effective way to stop the progression of the disease. For the often encountered cardiovascular comorbidity, smoking cessation is a no less important effective measure. COPD involves a considerably increased risk of lung cancer. This risk can also be reduced by stopping smoking. No other therapeutic measure is as important as cessation of smoking. There are indications of an effective risk reduction by replacing the tobacco cigarette with the e-cigarette. Further research is needed in this regard.
