Abstrakt

The treatment quality gains an increasingly important role in psychiatry. Since the 1960s psychiatry disposes beside psychological and social-therapeutic attempts of an extensive arsenal of biological procedures which have decisively served to lower the resting time in the psychiatric clinics. The demographic data of 657 patients of a psychiatric clinic and their GAF scores at admission and discharge were evaluated and compared to GAF scores of the international literature by means of meta-analysis. The patients benefitted significantly from the treatment, particularly if specific attempts were available e.g. in depression or schizophrenia. Even under inclusion of all – also neuro-degenerative – entities, the treatment results lay within the published GAF changes of international studies.
