Abstrakt

Depression and anxiety are frequent comorbidities in COPD patients and are associated with lower quality of life, worse prognosis and higher mortality. International and national studies showed that pulmonal rehabilitation (PR) has also positive short-time effects on depression and anxiety. Whether PR may have positive long-term effects on these outcomes remains unclear. In this paper, we give an overview on prevalence, assessment and possible causes of mental comorbidities in COPD patients. Drawing upon national and internal research, we present potential treatment factors that may have an impact on depression and anxiety in PR. Furthermore, starting points to stabilize positive effects of PR on mental comorbidities are discussed.
