Abstrakt

In an organic waste worker, the diagnosis of exogenous allergic alveolitis (EAA) was made only 2 years after the onset of the disease. The five criteria for the diagnosis of EAA were fulfilled, according to the current recommendations (AG EAA, EAACI): antigen exposure, exposure-dependent symptoms, detection of specific IgG, crackles, and typical alterations in the CAT scan. The secondary criteria – lymphocytosis in the lavage, decreased oxygen intake, and elimination test – were also positive. The molds Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium chrysogenum were identified as the cause; both species occur particularly in organic waste.
