Abstrakt

Aclidinium bromide is a long-acting inhaled anticholinergic agent for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The non-interventional study ON AIR assessed usability, efficacy and safety on multiple scales in 843 patients under real life conditions. At baseline and during the treatment, disease activity and evaluations by patients and physicians were documented. After ~ 12 weeks of treatment, a clinical relevant improvement was found in 85% of the patients, regardless of disease activity. Six adverse events were reported. The usability of the aclidinium bromide inhaler was rated as excellent by 83% of the physicians, and 65% of the patients. Mediocre or poor ratings were received by none of the physicians and by 1% of the patients. Thus, these data indicate good efficacy and tolerability of aclidinium bromide and a convincing usability of the Genuair^® device in agreement with randomized studies.
