Abstrakt

Background: We present an appraisal of the situation of the children and adolescents in the DMP bronchial asthma. Methods: Therefore we conducted descriptive crosssectional analyses on 14.653 children and adolescents (age 5 – 17 years). The influence of physician- and patient-based predictors of training course participation was checked in a logistic regression analysis. Results: The results show that the extents, to which quality objectives are achieved, increase. The asthma medication is concordant with guidelines. Especially the specialisation of medical care, the permission to conduct training courses by the doctors themselves and the degree of asthma control affect the course participation of the patients. Conclusions: We conclude that the DMP Asthma seems to be well established in Germany. Patient education is an essential element of improving the quality of care in asthma treatment. Physician- and patient-based elements seem to influence the participation in an asthma training course.
