Abstrakt

For most patients with symptomatic hemorrhoids conservative treatment is sufficient. Basic treatments are modifications of lifestyle and stool habits. A short use of external medication is common. If this regime is not successful semioperative procedures like sclerotherapy or rubber band ligation are indicated. In patients with hemorrhoids grade 2 or 3 rubber band ligation is the most performed and favorable technique. In patients with hemorrhoids grade 1 and with minimal symptoms or strong indication for anticoagulation sclerotherapy is an alternative treatment option. However, sclerotherapy and rubber band ligation, correctly indicated and used, are simple and safe methods in outpatient treatment of hemorrhoids.
