Abstrakt

We present a case of a young man with hemoptysis who consumed tetrahydrocannabinol on a daily basis. Bronchoscopic examination revealed findings of a tracheobronchitis with demonstrable foreign material throughout the bronchial system. In the bronchoalveolar lavage fatty and fibrous material could be detected microscopically. Since we have no evidence of aspiration, we interpreted the findings in connection with cannabis consumption. Our diagnosis is supported by a study of the Inselspital Bern. The Bernese scientists detected cannabis fibers in lung tissue of young people with cannabis use and pneumothorax.
