Abstrakt

A structured asthma education program is an essential part of the management of asthmatic children and adolescents. Part of the education program is – regarding the quality management standards of the German Society for Asthma-Education – a repetition of the contents 6 – 12 months after the in initial education. Only 10 – 80% take part in this post-education. A special problem group are adolescents, because there education is done during an inpatient rehabilitation. Therefore they don’t have a binding to a local asthma education team. Because of these problems a first internet-based post-education was developed 2001. This program was not successful. In the following years the internet was used more and more by the general population and a new platform “my-Air.TV” was created in cooperation with the German Society for Asthma-Education. The new platform is organized in 3 parts: knowledge, quiz und games. Using a peak flow meter the self-perception is enhanced. The usage is restricted to a duration of 3 months to achieve a certificate; afterwards a further use is possible. Several – but not all – German healthinsurance take over the costs. Until know about 500 children and adolescents have taken part in my-Air.TV. A successful use is achieved by 60 – 70%.
