Abstract

Lung MRI has become more suitable over the past decade due to technical development, although the possibilities of lung imaging have already been evaluated in the beginning of MRI. In the present review both, morphological and functional aspects of lung MRI will be discussed on basis of recent research as well as the transfer in the pediatric radiology. Possible indications of lung MRI will be outlined by examples of daily routine. In this context, the efficiency of the method will be discussed in contrast to other modalities critically, because longer acquisition time and the necessity of sedation in infants are stressful and expensive.
