Dustri-Verlag
was founded in the late 40s of the last century. In 1965 the
founder
of Dustri-Verlag, Karl Müller, a printer from Remscheid, Germany,
sold Dustri-Verlag to Dr. Karl Feistle,
an ambitious young publisher. In
1999 Dustri-Verlag was taken over by Frank and Joerg Feistle, who are
willing to continue and expand the
success, started by their father. In 2003 the
American office of Dustri-Verlag was founded in Rockledge, FL, in
order to improve contacts to its
authors and readers.
For the past 40 years Dustri-Verlag has been specializing in medical
literature. The publisher's oldest
periodical is the Medical Literature Adviser
(MLA), offering information on the latest medical books to booksellers.
Published monthly, it also informs doctors and medical students
about the latest publications in their
fields. Medical books were also published,
such as Facies dolorosa by Hans Kilian, a famous German surgeon.
In 1971 Dustri-Verlag started publishing the
first journal in its program: Nieren- und
Hochdruckkrankheiten (Renal Diseases and Hypertensive, founding-editor
R. Kluthe). In 1973 the first
English language journal followed: Clinical
Nephrology
(founding-editor R. Kluthe), soon well known as the "green
journal", was one of the first in
its field. Since 1975 five new journals were
added
to the program: Allergologie (Allergy), Atemwegs- und
Lungenkrankenheiten,(Airway
and Lung Diseases), Intensiv- und Notfallbehandlung
(Critical Care), Verdauungskrankeiten (Gastroenterology)
and
Prävention und Rehabilitation (Prevention and Rehabilitation).
In addition to Clinical Nephrology
Dustri-Verlag had published the following international
journals in the English language for many years: Clinical
Neuropathology,
International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics
and
Trace Elements and Electrolytes.
A book program was launched in the 70's. The first yellow pocket
books were published. Then
hardcover books and ringbinder books, the so-called
Manuale
were added. In 1999 the English book program was started with
Clinical
Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, edited by H.H. Malluche
et al.
Since 1990 Dustri-Verlag has been typesetting in its own studio. This
has speeded up production.
Dustri-Verlag especially aims today to support young doctors in
publishing their results in an
journal-article or as a book.
Dustri-Verlag and the whole staff offers a personal dedication for its
book and journal program in order
to satisfy its authors and readers.
